Post 298 Children and Youth Activities

Many opportunities exist for youth involvement at your local American Legion Post located at 625 31st Street in Marion; High School students will want to check out scholarship opportunities described on our Oratorical Contest page while 5th Graders will be interested in our Flag Essay contest. Both are yearly events. If you are a boy who has completed 11th grade and are interested in learning more about government the information located on the Boys State page is for you. For girls there are volunteer opportunities as a Legion Auxiliary Junior and American Legion Auxiliary runs an annual Girls State that has the same goals as Boys State - Citizenship and learning about our government and it's processes.

Additionally, Post 298 gives out two scholarships each year in the spring. Applications for the coming year will be available at the Legion Post in January. To be eligible you must be a son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, granddaughter, step grandson or step granddaughter of a Post 298 Legion member.

                We Shall Never Forget!

President Abraham Lincoln as stated in the Gettysburg Address

"From these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the
last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."
